According to the mythical history it is said that sage Manu after made his town and named it Manu Alya with time the name changed to Manali the home of sage Manu creator of Manu smriti.
Why Manali is famous:
Manali a pristine hill town located in the Himalayan range next to river Beas at an altitude of 2050 meters (6725 feet), containing wonders of nature it has high altitude peaks, hot spring, spots for adventure activities, and opening to rocky mountains.
This town host different weather in winters it is heaven for snow lovers as one can witness snowfall in town itself and enjoy various snow activities, just in case if you won't witness snow in town don't worry the nearby places Sissu, Solang valley, Koksar, Gulaba turn white during early winter.
During spring one can witness bloom in apricot and apple tree and the valley turn white and green with flowers and one can get panoramic view of snow peaked mountain ranges, one can witness snow at high altitude peak.
Summer is has its own pleasure as temperature stays below 27 degree Celsius, trees bear fruits and visibility become better, those who still wish to see snow and enjoy snow activities can visit Rohtang pass and Baralacha Pass, also the evening walk at mall road is bliss.
During monsoon the area turn lush green and high altitude peaks around town - Hanuman tibba, Friendship peak, Hampta Pass, Rohtang pass, CB13 and other peaks get snowfall. During this time lot of mountaineer climb peaks.
During autumn one can enjoy the falls and change in color as leaves turn yellow and red, town get more romantic and photogenic.
How to reach Manali?
Via road
Take a train to Pathankot or Kalka.
Continue the journey to Manali by road.
Alternatively, consider booking a train to Chandigarh for a more direct road connection to Manali.
Chandigarh to Manali is approximately 271 kilometers, taking around 7 hours by road.
From Delhi:
Book a train to Delhi.
Continue the journey to Manali by road.
Delhi to Manali is approximately 537 kilometers, taking around 12-13 hours by road.Via train
As per internet, the nearest railway station is shown pathankoth/Kalka. One can also book train to Delhi, from there they can continue their journey via road. Though we suggest to book a train till chandigarh ,from chandigradh to manali, it is 7 hour drive ( approx 271km).
Via Flight
There is a domestic airport at Bhuntar (Kullu) , from there you can get a cab which takes around 1 hour ( 48km approx ) to reach Manali. though due to small runway and weather discrepancy, due to the hilly region ,the flights generally gets cancelled and travel have to suffer , so one can book a flight till chandigarh airtport ( shaheed baghat singh international Airport ) or delhi airport ( IGI Airport ) , and continue their journey via road.
Via Helicopter
you can also choose to travel via helicopter and get a flight from chandigarh airport/shimla Airport. To book a helicopter, you can visit on pawan hans website, and book a seat in helicopter as per your requirement, the cost of seat in helicopter generally varies from 4000rs to 9000rs
